Maryland gained 800 jobs in July and unemployment fell for the third consecutive month.

The private sector added 11,500 positions while government positions decreased by 10,700, according to preliminary data released Friday by the U.S. Department of Labor. Maryland’s unemployment rate dropped to 4 percent in July from 4.1 percent.
