Lucy Alexander has over 20 years of experience in operations and supply chain management with large and small biopharm companies. She is currently capabilities lead for Global Supply Chain & Strategy at AstraZeneca, leading a network of 600 employees worldwide in strategy development, capabilities development, lean manufacturing, digital, and people strategy. In 2022, Gartner Research recognized AstraZeneca among the Top 25 Supply Chain Companies.
Most recently she led global supply chain management of AstraZeneca’s COVID vaccine, from its initial development partnered with Oxford University to launch and distribution across 100+ countries around the world, in record time of less than 12 months. Previously she led commercialization and supply of AstraZeneca-initiated, large molecule products through spin-out companies, joint ventures and collaborations, including Viela Bio.
In a range of Operations roles spanning planning, procurement, external manufacturing, supplier development, business operations and several business transformations, she has worked for Johnson & Johnson and Novartis, as well as smaller companies of 700 employees. She started her career in healthcare consulting.
Lucy is based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She holds BA and MA degrees from the University of Oxford, and an MBA in operations general management from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. Outside of work Lucy enjoys running and rehabilitating rescue dogs with her husband.
