Dave Saunders, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Galen Robotics, has a demonstrated track record of seeing the far-reaching human potential from technologies and having the ability to evolve them from their early conceptual state to become crucial solutions for business and life. With over 25 years of product development experience, Saunders has taken over 40 products from inception to market in such diverse fields as internet software, cloud computing services, communications hardware, voice recognition and medical devices. At Galen Robotics, he has led strategic planning and consulted with over 100 surgeons and medical leaders in the development of a next generation of surgical robots to address new areas of challenges and opportunities for advancement.
Previously in an executive role at Corocent Medical, Saunders led commercialization efforts of new technologies for medical devices at Mayo Clinic, Hospital for Special Surgery and Johns Hopkins University. Prior to that, as Vice President of Product Management and Development for Trak Surgical, he made the vision of a computer-guided bone cutting saw for knee replacement a reality. Other technical leadership roles include tenures at such companies as Blue Hawk Networks, Lucent Technologies, Ascend Communications, and Internet pioneer, InterCon Systems. Saunders is also a popular speaker at conferences and panels and is currently Area Governor for Toastmasters International, serving the Washington, D.C. and Beltway area.
